“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” Norman Vincent Peale
The MARRS Stars After School Reading Program provides outside of classroom instructional support for a group of at-risk readers in grades 6-8 at the four Jefferson County Middle Schools. This program has been very successful in the past and became more inclusive this year. Additional funds in 2009 allowed us to provide transportation home after the program, so that more students in need now have access.

Each school has its unique style, which motivates students to stay after school to work on reading skills. The outcome of this program is that students feel success in reading, and therefore become better readers and experience success in other subject areas.
"This program has changed lives and invested in our future!"
Debbie Hinkle, Coordinator of Middle Schools
