scholarships

The Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation has several scholarship opportunities as one of our fund-raising efforts . JCSEF scholarships are primarily for graduating seniors, unless otherwise noted. In addition, the Foundation has partnered with several Jefferson county residents to identify students for “study area” scholarships which range from $500 to $3,000. Finally, JCSEF manages several scholarships that benefit students and, which are endowed by specific, family donors.

Michael Walker Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Michael Walker, a Jefferson County student. The fund will provide one graduating senior with a four-year scholarship, $1,000 each fall and spring semester ($8,000 total), to help with their educational endeavors. The recipient must be accepted to a West Virginia University, however worthy recipients who plan to attend other four-year higher education institutions outside the state may be considered. Selection criteria will be based on overcoming adversity, financial need, leadership, community service and scholastic merit. Last year, Brittany Spaniel earned the Michael Walker Scholarship.

It is the mission of the Jefferson County Schools Education Foundation to enhance educational opportunities for students in Jefferson County through private sector support and funding of school projects.
